Brad Pitt appeared to be having the time of his life this week as he landed in Italy, just a week after his son Maddox headed off to university.
That’s not to say he didn’t do his own spot of ugly-crying, of course. But on this sunny day it was all about the smiles.
The Once Upon A Time In Hollywood star arrived at the swanky Venice Film Festival on Tuesday and proceeded to enjoy the heck out of that sunshine.
Wearing his classic flat cap, teamed with a beige jacket and trousers, the star waved to crowds gathered on the canals as he hopped a boat to his hotel.
The actor, 55, was joined by a female friend as they made their grand entrance on the Grand Canal for the 76th Festival.
While he’s been busy promoting his latest outing in Quentin Tarantino’s ninth film, he’s in Venice to support Ad Astra.
He stars in the science fiction drama which appears in competition at this year’s prestigious festival.
It comes after Angelina dropped their eldest Maddox off at university, admitting leaving the 18-year-old was pretty hard.
Angelina revealed that she had to let out an ’embarrass-your-children ugly cry’ as she dropped him off at Yonsei University in Seoul where he’ll be studying biochemistry.
The 44-year-old told Entertainment Tonight: ‘I had the big glasses, and the amount of times I turned and waved. I do know it was the one moment in my life I think I turned around six times before the airport just… And he sweetly stayed and kept waving, knowing that I was going to keep turning around. You could feel he knew he couldn’t leave. I am very proud of him. He is ready — he’s good.
‘I miss him, I miss him. Or I’ll just get out there. It’s not like I haven’t set my plane tickets.’
While Brad didn’t appear to be present at the emotional send-off in the city, Angelina – who also shares Pax, 15, Zahara, 14, Shiloh, 13, and 11-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne with her ex-husband – recently revealed the past few years have been tough amid their split.
Speaking to E! News at D23, Angelina explained: ‘I’m like everybody and… especially these last few years haven’t been the easiest, and I haven’t felt very strong.
‘There’s something when you’re not feeling very strong, where you push yourself.’
The Marvel’s Eternals star added: ‘And I’m so grateful that I have the opportunity to play these kind of characters, that pull out every bit of strength I have and that remind me that I can be strong.
‘Sometimes you really feel low and you gotta pull it back up.’
