Taking to Twitter, TV presenter Ellen revealed that she had enjoyed a private meeting with the pair in the UK and that they were ‘down-to-earth’ and being unfairly attacked when they were simply trying to ‘make the world better’.
‘Portia and I met Prince Harry and Meghan in England to talk about their work on wildlife conservation,’ shared Ellen.
‘They were the most down-to-earth, compassionate people. Imagine being attacked for everything you do, when all you’re trying to do is make the world better.’
Pink added: ‘I’m happy to see people coming to the defense of The Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
‘The way people treat her is the most public form of bullying I have seen in a while. It’s out of control. Let’s all be a bit kinder, huh? Let’s show our children that it’s cool to be kind.’
The public defending of Meghan, 38 and Harry has come after many criticised the Duke and Duchess of Sussex for refusing to practise what they preach after taking four private jet flights in 11 days despite urging the public to reduce their carbon footprints.
The Duke and Duchess brand themselves as being ‘eco-friendly’ and Harry attended a climate change summit in Sicily – via private jet – organised by Google last month, where he reportedly delivered a speech while barefoot on saving the environment.
The married couple then took a private jet to and from Ibiza to celebrate Meghan’s birthday with their three-month-old son before they were then pictured stepping off a private jet in the South of France.
Elton John claimed that he funded the private flights and says he went to great lengths to ensure it was carbon neutral.
‘To maintain a high level of much-needed protection, we provided them with a private jet flight,’ he said.
He added: ‘To support Prince Harry’s commitment to the environment, we ensured their flight was carbon neutral, by making the appropriate contribution to Carbon Footprint™.’
However, the controversy comes only weeks after Prince Harry revealed that his passion for protecting the environment meant he and Meghan had decided to have only two children.
The prince took to Instagram in July to warn people that ‘every choice, every footprint, every action, makes a difference’.
