Skateboarder Nathan Apodaca who saw himself go viral thanks to a very chill TikTok video of him miming along to Fleetwood Mac classic Dreams has been inundated with generous donations from fans.
Apodaca aka @420doggface208 on TikTok uploaded an uber chill video of him just gliding along on his skateboard while sipping cranberry juice and jamming along to the ’70s hit.
It led to him finding fame via Fleetwood Mac’s official social media accounts and going viral in less than a week, as his video has now been viewed a huge 16million times.
Dreams is now climbing music charts as a result, and if that wasn’t mad enough, Apodaca has been inundated with kind donations from fans – $10,000 (£7770) to be exact.
Fans felt compelled to help Apodaca after learning he’s been living in his RV with no running water. He’s now parked his RV at his brother’s house, but is hoping to use the money he’s received to help set him up with somewhere to live.
Speaking to TMZ, the TikTok star said: ‘Right now, I’ve got over $10,000. It’s crazy… I don’t know how many donations are going to keep coming in, but it’s a blessing. I just need a place of my own where I can cook and clean, and shower and sh*t.’
‘I want to give my mum a little bit for sure, right now I’m going to give her $5000 and I’m going to surprise her with that,’ he revealed.
Apodaca also shed light on how his viral video came about and explained he was on his way to work when his car shut down and he only had 15 minutes to get there in time.
He always keeps his longboard in the back, so he decided to skate to work instead and came across the perfect spot to film his video, after being inspired by another cranberry juice loving skater and his clips.
After the donations started coming in, Apodaca took to Twitter to thank everybody for their support.
He tweeted: ‘I just want to say thanks to everybody that’s showing love and support that video with the RV was a while ago I bought it when I saved up $1000 I am still in The RV but I am in front of my brothers so now I have a place to shower and [poo emoji] (not in that order) BONG!!mucho thank yous.’
Fleetwood Mac had reposted his video on Twitter, telling fans: ‘We love this!’
It led to a surge in Dreams being listened to by fans, with the song being streamed 390,728 times in the past week and shooting up to number 136 in the charts in the UK.
In Australia, it soared to number 46 and in New Zealand it shot up from 50 to 32.
Apodaca followed up his original video with another TikTok, sharing his surprise over the impact his skateboarding clip had gone on to have.
He said: ‘After I did that video, as you guys know the s**t went viral – holy sheep s**t. I just want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart from DoggFace, me and my family, to all you guys. No words that come to mind … just overnight sh*t’s been crazy.’
‘Thank you all for the donations, thank you all for the comments, thank you all for the gifts. I just appreciate everybody.’
