We’ve always known that Strictly Come Dancing is a high-pressured environment for celebs, thanks to long training hours, skimpy costumes and millions of people watching as you try not to fall flat on your face.
However, former pro Strictly dancer Ola Jordan has revealed that the professional dancers also struggle under the weight of the show after opening up about the pressure she felt to look slim in front of the audience.
‘When you’re on the show there is a thing in your head,’ the series seven champion admitted to MailOnline.
‘I was never the thinnest girl and I was never that lucky thin girl, I always had to work for it.’
The 36-year-old continued: ‘People would say, “Oh my god, your body is amazing” [but] I’d go to the gym a lot, I watched what I ate – it didn’t come easy for me.
‘I am a curvy girl. I’ve got the boobs and the bum as well, you know. And, I’m short, I’m not tall, so when I put a tiny bit of weight on it really, really shows you know?’
‘Nowadays I’m a bit more relaxed. I’m enjoying my life,’ the Polish native said. ‘Maybe I don’t have the body I had six years ago. But, sometimes you’ve got to relax and enjoy life.’
‘You’re on a show in a tiny costume being compared to the other professionals next to you, so you’re not gonna have that cake, you’re just not,’ Ola confessed.
‘Whereas nowadays I go, “Shall we go and have that doughnut?” with my husband, so it’s a bit more relaxed now.’
A world without cake and doughnuts? Not worth thinking about, tbh.
