Queer Eye star Jonathan Van Ness has hit out at John Cleese for saying he identifies as a ‘Cambodian police woman’ whereas defending JK Rowling’s stance on the transgender neighborhood.
In September the Monty Python star, 81, had added his identify to a letter of ‘solidarity’ with JK Rowling, who has expressed views on transgender folks deemed by many to be transphobic.
When he was questioned for his help for the Harry Potter writer, Cleese mentioned he was extra involved with different points like corruption than ‘trans folks’.
Sharing a screenshot of Cleese’s help for Rowling, one wrote on Twitter: ‘Why the f*** can’t you simply let folks be who they need to be? Do you truly assume there’s some deep conspiracy to show folks “against their genders”? Or do you want her as a person and subsequently there isn’t something she can do mistaken? Latter most likely…’
To which Cleese then responded: ‘Deep down, I want to be a Cambodian police woman. Is that allowed, or am I being unrealistic?’
Following his controversial publish, Van Ness, 33, has since slammed the comic, writing: ‘Dear @JohnCleese you’ve made a number of transphobic feedback right here.
