Cyclist, 12, dies after being hit by a car on Caerphilly road

A 12-year-old bicycle owner has died after he was hit by a car whereas on a predominant road in Caerphilly county.

Cole Roper, from Cefn Forest, Blackwood, was on a bike with one other 12-year-old boy on the A4049 between Aberbargoed and Pengam.

The bike was hit by a blue Vauxhall Astra at about 09:30 BST on Saturday.

Cole was taken to Prince Charles Hospital, Merthyr Tydfil, and later to the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff the place he died.

The different boy was handled for his accidents and launched from hospital.

Gwent Police has requested motorists who have been utilizing the road on the time to verify any dashcam footage to assist with inquiries into the collision.
