Dying waiter told nurse ‘just run’ as she helped him in London Bridge attack

An off-duty nurse was stabbed in the neck by a terrorist after confronting him for knifing a sufferer through the London Bridge attack.

When Helen Kennett noticed blood pouring from the neck of Borough Market waiter, Alexandre Pigeard, 26, she instantly rushed to supply assist, the Previous Bailey immediately heard.

However the dying man shook his head, frightened, and told her: ‘No, just run.’

Ms Kennett as a substitute confronted the knifeman and mentioned: ‘What’s mistaken with you?’

The attacker replied: ‘No, what’s mistaken with you?’, earlier than plunging a 12 inch blade into her neck.

She mentioned: ‘I just remember his eyes. They were soulless. Evil. They were empty.’

Mr Pigeard, a waiter and musician from France, died from the stab wounds to his neck and chest and was discovered in Montague Shut, close to Southwark Cathedral.

Ms Kennett was ingesting prosecco together with her mum and sister on the Boro Bistro at Borough Market, when she heard attackers crash their van on the bridge above.

She told the Previous Bailey she initially thought there had been a car crash when a person appeared carrying the injured Mr Pigeard.

The off-duty nurse mentioned these round her had been shouting and getting extra upset and went to assist.

She mentioned: ‘In any emergency situation I’m educated to be fairly inward. I might be calm once I should be.

‘I glanced to my proper, which was in direction of the place the steps are coming down, and I noticed a person who was very, very injured.

‘There was simply a whole lot of blood after which, as I bought nearer, I noticed there was a minimize proper throughout the neck. It seemed like there was a number of accidents on the physique however my consideration was the neck.

‘I checked out him and thought, “That’s not a car accident that’s something more”. It occurred so shortly and I assumed, ‘He’s been attacked by a knife’, after which I noticed the knife.’

Ms Kennett made it again to her sister and mom and tried to cover the extent of her damage as they escaped to the Mudlark pub.

She mentioned: ‘I remember falling to the floor because I was slipping in my own blood.’

Ms Kennett borrowed a T-shirt to tie across the wound and was given tea towels from the kitchen as she waited for medical assist.
