Heathrow airport strike latest: Bank holiday walkout is suspended after latest pay offer

A deliberate strike via 1000’s of staff at Heathrow has been  suspended whilst they vote on a revised pay offer.

Flights confronted disruption via the threatened . motion at the Friday and Saturday of the August financial institution holiday weekend.

But the Unite union showed {that a} poll is beneath approach at the latest pay offer made via Heathrow to greater than 4,000 safety, airside operations and passenger products and services body of workers.

The vote closes on September 2, and the union mentioned the strike has been suspended to let it happen.

A Heathrow spokesman mentioned: “We’re happy Unite has postponed the strike motion scheduled for August 23 and 24 to offer union contributors the time to believe our revised offer.

We have put an extra £2.five million at the desk since talks started, with our present offer bringing the full pay upward push to 7.eight in keeping with cent over two years.” 

Another strike date used to be suspended previous this month to permit for a vote on a prior pay offer.
