A 40-year-old man has been arrested after a heavily pregnant girl was seriously injured in a hit-and-run in Leicester.
Police rushed to studies of an incident involving a car, regarded as a white van, and a cyclist in Aylestone Road at round 9.30pm on Monday.
The cyclist, who’s heavily pregnant and in her forties, stays in hospital after the crash with critical accidents.
Leicestershire Police mentioned the motive force did not cease on the scene, close to the junction with Park Hill Drive.
The spokesman mentioned the suspect, from Leicester, has been arrested on suspicion of inflicting critical damage by harmful driving and driving whereas inebriated.
He stays in custody and inquiries are persevering with, the power added.
Detective Sergeant Paul Hawkins mentioned: “We are persevering with to supply help to the girl injured and her household because the investigation continues.
“We have made this arrest in the present day in reference to the collision and our inquiries stay ongoing as we proceed to ascertain the total circumstances of the incident yesterday night.
“We do urge anybody who has any info in relation to the incident, and who has not but spoken with us, to make contact.
“Anyone who has any CCTV or dashcam footage from the scene of the collision on the time of the incident or previous to the collision also needs to get in contact.
“I wish to thank everybody who has shared our appeals and offered info to us thus far.”
