Tens of thousands back petition to rename street outside Trump Tower in New York after Barack Obama

Tens of thousands of folks have sponsored a petition calling for the street outside Trump Tower in New York to be renamed after Barack Obama in a bid to troll the USA president.

The petition, which has racked up 86,000 signatures, is asking for the stretch of Fifth Avenue outside Trump Tower to be renamed “President Barack H. Obama Avenue”.

Elizabeth Rowin, the lady who began the petition, introduced it in a bid to troll Donald Trump and recognise Mr Obama’s accomplishments all over his time as president.

She wrote at the on-line petition: “The City of Los Angeles not too long ago honoured former President Barack Obama via renaming a stretch of the 134 Freeway close to Downtown LA in his honour.”

She added: “We request the New York City Mayor and City Council do the similar via renaming a block of Fifth Avenue after the previous president whose many accomplishments come with: saving our country from the Great Recession; serving two utterly scandal-free phrases in workplace; and eliminating Osama bin Laden, the mastermind in the back of September 11th, which killed over 3,000 New Yorkers.”

Ms Rowin, 56, informed Newsweek that she “started the petition as a joke”, including: “I noticed a comic funny story about how it could make Trump so mad if it was once named after former President Obama and I assumed why now not.”

The petition, introduced on to New York City Council, would trade Trump Tower’s deal with from 725 Fifth Avenue to 725 Barack H. Obama Avenue.

However, the petition faces demanding situations, as Newsweek studies that once the town renames a street after a public determine, the individual should were lifeless for no less than two years.

Ms Rowin added: “I’m sure the conditions can be changed. There are two streets in LA named after the former President Obama. These laws are arbitrary and can be worked around.”
