TfL Tube workers to take industrial action over 'explosion in passenger violence'

Workers on elements of London Underground will take industrial action over claims there was an “explosion” of passenger violence and anti-social behaviour.

Members of the Rail, Maritime and Transport union on the japanese finish of the District Line have voted to solely work from a spot of security from the top of the month when working alone and won’t attend incidents on trains by themselves.

The union stated a feminine member of workers was attacked in her workplace by a passenger and others have been threatened.

RMT normal secretary Mick Cash stated: “There has been an explosion of violent crime and sexual offences across the network and our members are bearing the brunt of it, particularly on the District Line.”

A Transport for London spokesman stated: “Our workers work laborious to help our clients and hold London transferring.

“They deserve to go about their day with out concern or intimidation, in security.

“We have met with the RMT to reiterate our dedication to making certain the security of our workers and description the steps we now have taken to tackle their suggestions.

“We will continue to engage with them to ensure all staff feel safe and secure while performing their duties.”
