Bernd Leno has aimed a not-so-subtle dig at Chelsea and Tottenham by insisting that Arsenal are *the* membership to play for in London.

All three sides have had inconsistent begins to the Premier League season, with Arsenal highest in fifth after two wins, a defeat and a 2-2 draw with Spurs earlier than the worldwide break.

Tottenham are in ninth after the north London derby whereas Frank Lampard’s Chelsea sit down in 11th with just one victory to date this time period.

Arsenal goalkeeper Leno got here in for widespread criticism after he was partly at fault for Christian Eriksen’s opener at the Emirates, with many followers but to be satisfied by the German.

Despite a blended begin to his Arsenal profession, although, Leno clearly has no regrets about his £19million transfer from Bayer Leverkusen final summer season.

Asked to match Arsenal and Leverkusen, Leno informed SportBild: ‘You can’t evaluate that, in fact Arsenal is a world membership, THE membership right here in London.

‘Not Chelsea, not Tottenham – Arsenal is the membership right here with followers world wide.

‘No matter where we are, also in the USA or in Asia, there are many fans of Arsenal everywhere.’

Manchester United legend Gary Neville criticised Arsenal’s complete defence and claimed Leno can’t be trusted after his expensive error within the north London derby.

‘You talk about the threat, the intensity, good parts of the game, you still have to mention the fact that they look sloppy and rash at the back,’ he stated on The Gary Neville Podcast

‘We talked about the goalkeeper’s mistake, I don’t fairly belief him, I don’t suppose he’s anyplace close to the category of the opposite prime goalkeepers we’ve within the league.

‘The two centre-backs, they’re rash. You might argue that Hector Bellerin’s acquired to return again in, that Rob Holding’s acquired to return again in, Kieran Tierney’s acquired to return again in. So that again 4 will be strengthened.

‘But you still fear that that back four will always still not be good enough for where Arsenal want to be, and they somehow from somewhere need to unearth a centre-back that’s going to carry that back-line collectively.

‘So I think there’s nonetheless the worry for Arsenal that they appear to be they’re everywhere at the again after they have good gamers towards them.

‘We saw today Tottenham created many chances on the counter-attack, whereas the really good teams and top teams they manage the counter-attack, they sustain their own attack and they don’t permit groups to counter-attack on them fairly often – City and Liverpool particularly.’
