revealed Frank Lampard predicted his side would be left disappointed if they did not score a second goal against Leicester City.

Chelsea went into half-time a goal up after Mason Mount’s early opener, but had seen Leicester wrestle control of the game away from them after their blistering start.

Leicester dominated in the second half and Azpilicueta admitted Lampard warned his players about the necessity of a second goal at half-time.

‘He said that in the first 20, 25 minutes we were much better than them,’ Azpilicueta said when asked what Lampard has said during the interval.

‘[He said] we controlled the game, we had a lot of chances and we had to score a second goal.

‘We know with their team they could create a lot of chances, at the end we didn’t manage to find a way to score a second goal.’

Wilfred Ndidi was at fault for Chelsea’s opener, allowing Mount to steal the ball away in a dangerous area.

Mount scored, his first for goal for the club, but Ndidi responded with a superb second-half performance.

Ndidi capped off Leicester’s revival with the equalising goal before James Maddison wasted a golden opportunity to complete the turnaround late in the game.

Lampard admitted he was disappointed after the result, as the wait for his first win as Chelsea boss goes on.

‘You can attack, but still be in positions to not allow the counter-attack,’ he said.

‘I’m not here to play great attacking and then concede counter-attack goals. We need to show more than we did.

‘I was under no illusions that there would be moments like this. We have to work on the pitch on the things we can improve.’
