The Sky Sports pundits are backing City to hold off Liverpool for another season, but disagree about who will finish in the top four.
Carragher is tipping Arsenal to beat Manchester United and Chelsea to the final Champions League spot, while Neville thinks Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side will have enough firepower to see off competition from Frank Lampard’s Blues.
Top Four Predictions
CARRAGHER: LIVERPOOL, ARSENAL, TOTTENHAM
NEVILLE: LIVERPOOL, TOTTENHAM, MANCHESTER UNITED
Top Four Predictions…
Gary Neville: ‘I think United will get into the top four. Not because of what happened last week, I think United have got more options at centre-forward – Martial and Rashford.
‘I think Chelsea will struggle to score goals and losing Hazard was devastating for them.’
Jamie Carragher: ‘It’s a toss up with Arsenal. It’s whoever goes furthest in the Europa League, that could cause a problem. If we’re talking about Manchester United having more options up front than Chelsea, yeah totally agree with that.
‘But I actually think the fire power Arsenal have might edge Manchester United. I think in Lacazette and Aubameyang, that’s a proper goal threat. Probably as good as anything with two strikers.’
In other predictions for the coming campaign, Neville and Carragher both backed City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne to win Player of the Year after missing out on the award to Virgil van Dijk last season.
The pair predicted Everton could break into the top six, but disagreed about which player would score the most goals.
After Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang shared the Golden Boot with Liverpool duo Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane last season, Neville expects Sergio Aguero to win the award while Carragher thinks Harry Kane will reclaim his spot as the Premier League’s top scorer.
