Several flats have been evacuated as armed police deal with a ‘hostage situation’ in Southend.
Pictures from outdoors the Longbow flats, on Sherwood Way, Essex, present a number of police items and ambulances lined up outdoors the constructing.
Some officers have been photographed subsequent to what seems to be a number of ladders leaning in opposition to the block.
A spokesperson for Essex Police confirmed that the incident continues to be ongoing.
They mentioned: ‘Officers are persevering with to interact with a person inside a flat in Sherwood Way. Several flats in the constructing have been evacuated as a precaution.
‘We thank members of the public and local residents for their patience as we continue our enquiries.’
Witness Aaron Chesham advised the Southend Echo he had heard sirens at round 2.30pm however at first ‘didn’t suppose something of it’.
He continued: ‘Then I got a phone call from my friend saying there’s all armed police and sniffer canine spherical there so I went again spherical there to take a look.’
Aaron added: ‘I didn’t realise it will be that unhealthy, there was one police van and 4 armed response items, then the ambulances and hearth engine turned up about ten minutes later.
‘I also saw the police with their big red key. Apparently there’s a hostage is what individuals are saying.’
A Twitter consumer who took photographs of the scene mentioned he believed there was a lady and kids contained in the flat.
A spokesman for the Ambulance Service, mentioned: ‘We obtained a name from police at 2.18pm with experiences of an ongoing incident in Sherwood Way, Southend.
‘We sent the Hazardous Area Response Team and two ambulance officers.’
