A boss at a number one worldwide agency has been suspended after sending an inappropriate email about a feminine colleague’s ‘love of glazed rings’ to the entire company.
James Conmy, a senior Vice President of World Marine and Power at insurers Man Carpenter, despatched the email to all colleagues with the topic ‘Birthday Treats’.
The boss, who had purchased doughnuts to rejoice his birthday, made a lewd reference to his colleague Soraya Faoussi in relation to the deal with.
It learn: ‘There are doughnuts on Alf’s desk as it’s my birthday right now.
‘I hope people like Krispy Kremes – I know Soraya enjoys a glazed ring.’
However Soraya, a reinsurance dealer in his division, didn’t see the humorous aspect and despatched an offended response to the humiliating email.
The dealer, who has labored on the company since 2012 after graduating from Paris’ Sorbonne College, warned she would ahead it to HR.
She replied: ‘That is completely completely unacceptable James.
‘There are limits to “jokes” you’ll be able to ship at work copying in all colleagues – that is extraordinarily impolite and offensive.
‘Please note that this will be forwarded to HR – HAPPY BIRTHDAY.’
A spokesperson for Man Carpenter advised the commerce journal Insurance coverage Put up that the sender of the email had since been suspended.
‘We take all incidents of harassment very seriously and will not tolerate any behaviour that breaches our code of conduct,’ the spokesperson added..
‘Our first precedence is our affected colleague and we’re providing all of the help and counselling we will.
‘Those involved in sending and externally disseminating this email have been suspended from the firm pending further investigation.’
