A bus driving force who allegedly refused to force a Pride-themed bus as it “promotes homosexuality” has been suspended.
The Konectbus worker objected for the reason that carrier quantity on entrance of the 501 carrier to Thickthorn used to be rainbow colored.
He allegedly informed consumers in Norwich: “This bus promotes homosexuality and I refuse to drive it.”
According to Becca Sears, the driving force then informed passengers they’d have to watch for him to change buses.
She has since lodged a grievance with body of workers on the bus station, including: “I’m aware everyone is entitled to their own views, however, if you can’t do your job properly because of your bigotry, maybe you need to rethink your choices.”
Replying to her on Twitter, Konectbus stated it unearths “this attitude, behaviour and level of customer service completely unacceptable”.
Go East Englia, which runs Konectbus, added: “Go East Anglia prides itself on values that strengthen range and inclusion and has been a champion of Norwich Pride since 2017.
“We in particular need all consumers of no matter background or sexual orientation to really feel comfy on our services and products.
“As an organization we don’t condone any behaviour from our drivers that doesn’t strengthen this view.
“The driver involved in this incident has been suspended and a full investigation is under way.”
Some other people reacted with surprise to the incident, with one social media person writing: “I’m so glad the situation has been taken seriously. Pride month is over, but please still be kind and loving to everybody – no matter their gender, sexuality or race.”
Another advised the person will have to as an alternative be given equality and variety coaching.
