Unhappy Meal? Rutland resists McDonald’s plans to open a new drive-thru

There are two issues that Rutland residents are particularly happy with: being England’s smallest county, and being the one county that does not have a McDonald’s.

But after spending years resisting the rise of quick meals eating places, all of that could be about to change.

McDonald’s has not too long ago submitted a planning utility to open a drive-thru on the outskirts of Oakham, Rutland’s most important city.

Some residents are excited on the prospect of getting Big Macs and McNuggets at their fingertips – not to point out the roles that a new enterprise would create.

But others have formally raised objections to McDonald’s plans – fearful that the drive-thru might trigger rising ranges of visitors, litter and anti-social behaviour.

Rutland County Council has stated it’s nonetheless contemplating the appliance, and doesn’t know when will probably be in a position to make a determination on the proposals.
